Saturday 5th December - Kinny
Native Canadian with Jamaican roots, an opera singer turned soul and funk sensation, in Cornwall for the first time.

Describing herself as a freestyle improv-vocalist, Kinny is a unique talent, tapping into the same soulful musical vein as Erykam and Philadelphia songstress Jill Scott, Kinny's style is all her own, with a voice that sashays effortlessly between vertiginous, soaring meodies, steely staccato verses and caramel-dipped dulcet tones. Fusing a classical mezzo-soprano with deep soul and jazzy attitude Kinny is a star in the making.
Supported on the night by DJ/producer Flevans and Underbelly a 6 piece Jazz Funk band who've received heavy rotation on the Craig Charles show. Knockout! JM.

Angel Heart Theatre’s
‘Oshima and the Big Sea’

A family show for everyone over 3

Every day Oshima goes off fishing in his little tub boat. He hopes he will catch a really, big fish… But he never does.

Maybe it is because Oshima’s pet frog, Ito, is always playing tricks!    Or maybe Oshima is just too busy day-dreaming about what it must be like under the Big Sea…

One day Oshima has a big adventure and gets the chance to find out!

Oshima and the Big Sea has been created by James Richardson of Angel Heart Theatre in memory of his dad, who loved all things Japanese and inspired too by his young son, who loves all things fishy!

With a growing reputation for lovingly made puppets and engaging performances Angel Heart Theatre offer this simple, uplifting tale for all hearts, young and old.

Miracle Theatre’s
‘TARTUFFE’

He only wants what’s best from you!

Adapted and directed by Bill Scott from the original by Molière with Music by BragaTanga

Cornwall’s Miracle Theatre celebrates its 30th anniversary this summer with a new adaptation of Moliere’s Tartuffe. Using a brand new translation, Miracle applies its talent for satire, farce and physical theatre to Molière’s sharpest comedy, which is as fresh and provoking today as when it was banned in 1664.

When a wealthy man starts treating a homeless vagrant as his guru and lifestyle guide, it triggers alarm bells amongst his offspring, driving them to take drastic action to protect their inheritance. But will the devious Tartuffe, be one step ahead of them?
“One of the reasons for Moliere’s lasting popularity is his great skill at making us laugh at aspects of human nature which are uncomfortably familiar to us,” says Miracle founder and director Bill Scott. “Tartuffe is the perfect play for our 30th summer – a great story full of larger than life characters. It’s extremely funny and explores very contemporary themes in such an off-the-wall way that it’s hard to believe it was written 350 years ago.”
Since 1979, Miracle’s original, vital and seriously funny brand of theatre has been delighting audiences across Cornwall, the South West and beyond. 30 years on, extraordinary performances in stunning locations have become Miracle’s speciality and an essential part of summer for audiences of all ages.

Playing in the open air amphitheatre at Mount Pleasant Eco Park, guests are advised to bring warm clothing and sensible footwear! The amphitheatre is made of earth-filled recycled car tires which covered in a lovely comfy layer of grass. You may like to bring a cushion or rug to sit on and a torch might come in handy. We have the Barn as a back-up, if the weather gets really stormy.

Refreshments will be available 1 hour before the performance so come along early….
we hope you will consider making a weekend of it and staying at the
Mount Pleasant campsite.
