We are looking for a freelance part-time Bookkeeper to work across 3 businesses based at Mount Pleasant Eco Park, Porthtowan. The community venue and campsite (, annual festival ( and environmental building company ( are all run by the same small and passionate team. The bookkeeping and accounting needs are varied, and sometimes irregular in their time demands.

The role will suit a friendly, experienced bookkeeper used to working under their own initiative. Ideally you will have an interest in and understanding of community and not for profit ventures, and be reasonably flexible in your working hours.

We anticipate the role to be fulfilled remotely, but you will be allocated office space at the main Mount Pleasant Eco Park offices in Porthtowan and can work from here if preferred. You will be expected to be on site at least once a month to meet with the relevant team/s.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Processing payments, invoices, income, and receipts and entering data into accounting software or databases then filing hard copies
  • Managing payroll
  • Preparing financial statements showing business income and expenditure
  • Paying vendor invoices and tracking bank account balances
  • Completing VAT returns
  • Verifying the accuracy of business accounts and alerting the accountant of errors
  • Recording any inconsistencies to help the accountants reconcile inaccuracies
  • Working with department heads to create effective budget and payment systems
  • Developing monthly financial statements including cash flow, profit and loss and balance sheets
  • Helping the Accountant with administrative duties and preparing yearly accounts

Skills and qualifications:

  • Good attention to detail to enter correct data into financial records and recognise errors.
  • Mathematics skills for accurate record-keeping.
  • Administrative skills for filing financial records.
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets, databases, and accounting software such as Microsoft Office, Excel, and QuickBooks (current system is QuickBooks)
  • Multi-tasking and organisational skills to manage different financial duties, including the ability to prioritise tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Interpersonal and customer service skills for dealing with customers & suppliers
  • Communication skills, including the ability to explain complex financial matters in accessible terms.

We are looking for a Bar and Venue Manager to oversee daily operations and responsibilities of the Ecopark bar and venue We require someone with bags of energy, experience, and the drive to push the Eco Park bar and venue to its full potential.

Mount Pleasant Eco Park is a unique venue set on a 42-acre estate, with indoor and outdoor extraordinary spaces to hire, rural workshops, a community garden, wild campsite, and a vegan café at its heart. It hosts music events, festivals, markets, conferences, workshops, and weddings.  Located on the hilltop bordering a site near Porthtowan, there is a focus on community, best sustainable/ethical practices, and the natural environment. We are a plastic free venue.

We are searching for a committed, proactive bar and venue manager who would enjoy work in an exciting, fast-paced environment. The bar and venue manager will hire, train and supervise staff and organise shift operations. You will also manage inventory and resources, ensure that quality and safety controls are followed, maintain current licenses and update vendor contracts, create staff rotas, and set business objectives to increase profits and maximize customer satisfaction and ensure that customers are receiving excellent drinks and service.  This role will also include the overseeing of venue management involving venue preparation prior and post all events such as heating, technical equipment, furniture etc.

Tropical Pressure festival will be returning this year in July at the Eco Park, this role will play a key part in the management of all festival bars, overseeing the running of each bar throughout the event, recruiting staff, and set up and breakdown..


Manage the business aspects of the bar and venue, such as keeping a current liquor license, negotiating supplier contracts, sourcing ethical and local stock, taking inventory, monthly stock take’s, reordering supplies, managing budgets, implementing fire/evacuation plans and setting goals.

Recruiting, training and motivating staff

Creating effective staff rotas and quickly resolving conflicts to ensure that bar is well staffed during peak hours and events

Determining any training needed to accomplish goals, then implementing a plan

Effectively delegate responsibilities and maximize resources

Ability to walk, stand, and occasionally carry heavy items in a fast-paced, stressful environment

Setting and enforcing quality and safety controls

Opening and closing of premises, including cash handling, and cashing up of tills

Cellar management and line cleaning

Ensuring bar and venue is well-stocked and clean

Maintaining a fun, safe atmosphere for both customers and staff

We are looking for a confident Bar and Venue Manager who can bring personality to our team and who wants to develop and grow our existing venue and events programme.


At least 2 years’ experience in bar management plus experience in events 

Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.

Friendly and calm nature with the ability to work under pressure and in a busy environment.
