The Down To Earth Foundation, based at the Eco Park, runs regular volunteering sessions every Friday 9.30am – 1pm (registration from 9.15am).
It’s a great chance to get outside, get stuck in and meet like-minded people while helping with seasonal projects in the 42-acre Eco Park grounds. Everyone is welcome and each session is followed by a hearty soup in the café!
Our location on the north coast of Cornwall is a World Heritage site, and the once derelict land has been lovingly brought back to life with the development of plenty of rich habitat for local wildlife, from wildflower fields to living willow structures.
During Volunteer Fridays you can expect to be involved in a wide range of activities, from maintaining bird boxes to growing organic vegetables in the community allotment that provides produce for the onsite vegan café.
What to expect in October and November –
This autumn we’ll be working on various projects around the Eco Park site, a good opportunity to get some fresh air and outdoor exercise.
In the Wilder Allotments we’ll be preparing for next year with digging, weeding, composting & seed saving as well as working in the poly tunnel.
Around the Eco Park we’ll be doing tree care, coppicing and planting, tidying up and pruning hedges as well as weeding and clearing.
Back in 2010 the Mount Pleasant Community Garden was launched as many local people said that they would like to grow their own fruit and vegetables.Read More
