THE Misadventures of Thor PLUS Viking Shield Wall
THOR! Tall…brave…strong…but none too bright. Sometimes his days are not always
about heroic thunder, but are filled instead with hapless blunder!
Like the day he was almost married to a grumpy giant. Or when he was shortchanged as
the golden presents were handed out. And then there was the time he had to be rescued
by his son, Magni, who was only three days old… how embarrassing!
These ancient Nordic tales are brought to you by Ulf, Oddvar and Gróa the sorceress, in a
comedic romp through the life and times of the Viking gods.
Rattlebox and Angel Heart Theatre present this family show with their usual flair for
skilfully blending puppetry, storytelling and larger-than-life characters into a performance
full of wonder and delight! SKOL!
12.30 – 1pm. The first two parts of our Viking tales delivered in a boisterous, comic performance suitable for families with children 4yrs+.
1 – 2pm Lunch.
2 – 2.30pm. The third of our two Viking tales.
2.30 – 3.15pm. Viking Shield Wall. This has a lower age limit of 7yrs+ but is open to teenagers and we can accommodate up to 45 children in the Shield Wall.
Dave and James offer the unique chance for children to engage in the
creation and deployment of a Viking Shield Wall. We bring with us a
fabulous array of realistic looking foam-latex weapons, shields and
helmets, all modelled on such items from the Viking Age.
Once the children have created their Shield Wall they will be drilled by
‘Bjorn’ and ‘Odda’ on how to move forward together as a team. If the line
isn’t held it’s unlikely the gods will save you! Then their Shield Wall will be
put to the test…
Parents and carers become the opposing force, facing the children and
armed with throwing axes! The Viking Shield Wall will give children a truly
unforgettable experience of what it was like to be the ‘front-line’ in a Viking
Age skirmish!
All kit provided is child-friendly and meets the requirements of safety
adhered to by LARP (Live Action Role Playing) guidelines.
