The Down To Earth Foundation, based at the Eco Park, runs volunteering sessions every Friday 9.30am-1pm. It’s a great chance to enjoy the great outdoors whilst meeting new people and sharing skills and knowledge – topped off with a well deserved free lunch in the cafe!
Our location on the north coast of Cornwall is both a World Heritage site and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and the once derelict land has been lovingly brought back to life with the development of plenty of rich habitat for local wildlife, from wildflower fields to living willow structures.
During Volunteer Fridays you can expect to be involved in a wide range of activities, from maintaining bird boxes to growing organic vegetables in the community allotment that provides produce for the onsite vegetarian cafe.
What to expect in February –
This month we’ll be coppicing and pruning trees and shrubs as well as tidying up hedgerows around the Eco Park. We’ll also check on bird boxes before the nesting season starts. At the end of the month we’ll take our first look in the polytunnel and start getting things ready for spring planting.
All volunteers receive a free delicious lunch for their time. There’s no need to book – just arrive for registration at 9.15am!
