10am – 3pm (with a short pause for lunch)
An introduction to carving unique rubber stamps for block printing onto fabric.
Using traditional linocut relief printmaking techniques, Jill D from Riverbird studio, Penryn, will guide you through the techniques required and process needed to create and hand-carve your very own personalised rubber stamp. You will then use specialised inks to learn the methods of block printing pattern onto test fabrics and fabric items, using your rubber ‘blocks’.
Participants will need to wear an apron/old clothes, and bring a packed lunch or purchase from the CAFE but do check opening times. Test fabrics will be available as well as a fabric tote bag or T-shirt for each participant, but please bring any old fabrics or fabric items that you would like to print upon.
Roots Press is a creative studio offering Risograph printing, printmaking workshops, membership, design and a print and binding service.
