You will learn how to use various carving tools and traditional techniques to create a unique one colour linocut block of your own.
Beginning with some mark-making experimentation on a practice block, you will be guided through the design, carving, inking and printing stages of the production of a final piece which is yours to take home along with your practice prints. You will learn how to ink your carved block and try hand burnishing your design, as well as using a tabletop hand-lever block printing press.
Please bring your mask, an apron/old clothes and a packed lunch. Alternatively our onsite cafe Wilder Allotment Kitchen will be open 8:30am – 2pm so you could treat yourself to some lunch or a posh coffee! Feel free to bring sketches, objects, or printed-out designs of anything that may inspire your relief print.
